if you check the files section at TearsForFears-TradingPost you will find that Clovis has kindly uploaded a 'sample' of the VERY RARE track 'Snowhill - Dance mix' this track can only be found on the limited Snowhill - london road 2000 'charity' release & so is very hard to find it is well worth a listen and gives you a taste of what the full 5 minute 22 second version is like i would like to remind any one joining TearsForFears-TradingPost/post that they should check the message archive to see full details of the sleeve notes to the Snowhill single. these include comments from Curt as to why he got involved in the project take care Chris
i have been asked about the following in the last few days and as it crops up every so often i thought this may interest a few people a few keen individuals have been purchasing the snowhill single through the auctions on e bay (through a seller called 'nasher' based in the uk) when the parcel arrives in the post the buyer is concerned by the cd-r type single & think they have been ripped off. the chances are you have got the genuine article and here's a message i posted to another group which will show you that you have the real thing...... i own a copy of the Snowhill single. I live in england & a friend of mine who lives near Bath made arrangements to get me a copy of the single. My cd was purchased at the carnival & i am therefore convinced that it is the genuine article. firstly, the inlay card is of a basic quality & is printed in black ink only. however, it is important to note that the more money spent on production costs means that less money is going to a good cause. on the reverse of the cd are the numbers p1311107111199 and also the letters R-GBP can be seen also. hopefully this is the same on the disc that you will have the main face of the cd is unusual. it has what i can only describe as a ’paper’ label where you would expect the info to be printed on . it is therefore an unusual item & the the dance mix is a nice touch too...... variety after all is the spice of life. i hope that reassures one or two people. for those who haven't seen the cd the covers looks like this....... (see attachment) all the best Chris
if you check out the files section at: TearsForFears-TradingPost you will find that i have added a mp3 of a live version of Stand By Me enjoy! take care Chris
here is a little anecdote from the past you may be interested in. i live in England and first became a fan of TFF upon hearing 'Mad World' on the radio for the very first time. as many of you know m world was released on 02/10/82 where it reached number 3 in the uk 'hit parade'. on 05/02/83 Tff followed up with the release of Change. i can't remember the specifics of the following because it was a long time ago but here goes......Change was not intended as the next single!!! there was a TV programme on at the time called ORS (Oxford Road Show) which was a music/'youth' programme in what is commonly known as a 'magazine' format. this show was presented by Peter Powell (who was a well known Radio One DJ). for example, i remember Bronski Beat making there first ever live tv performance whilst playing a stunning version of Smalltown Boy. anyway, i can't remember when it was exactly, but Tears For Fears played live on one particular show. rather than play Change (which essentially was a commercial pop song) they played another song which had a bit more fire in the belly. they introduced the song as being the next single and the track they played was THE HURTING.... i haven't got this on video tape and whether anybody else has i don't know. The Hurting was a definitive track at that time (hence the album of the same name) and i can only conclude that the band were steered towards the more commercial issue of Change. You never know, maybe Roland & curt just changed their minds..... bye for know Chris
> > can anybody tell me if there were anymore 'razormaid' mixes of tears for > > fears and also, 'who' or 'what' are 'razormaid'? > > Razormaid is/was a remixing service. I've heard of razormaid mixes of Shout > and Pale Shelter, but they're hard to track down.... Razormaid only remixed two songs, Pale Shelter and Mothers Talk. I have confirmed this with them. I have both direct from Razormaid CDs. I believe Mothers Talk is still available from them, but Pale Shelter no longer is (or the other way around) Their web site is appropriately enough, www.razormaid.com. Shout and a couple other tracks were remixed by another DJ service called Ultra Hot Razor, hence the confusion. Scott HIGHLIGHTS CONTINUED
