when 'change' was released as a single there was a double pack 7" set which included live versions of Change and Start of The Breakdown from memory i think the live tracks were recorded in england (oxford). i remember also being at a show in birmingham where Roland stated 'start of ...' was being recorded. obviously they recorded a number of shows and oxford turned out best. pity that an 'official' live album never appeared at this time regards Chris
Regarding Donyo's comment on the "In The Zone" bootleg.... > Also, whoever printed up those CD's is a complete idiot, since the first 4 > songs are all from the same 1983 London concert, not 1993. The latter 3 > songs were taken from the PBS "On Tour" special that briefly covered the live > kings tour... I have the original of this CD and the radio station call sheet that comes with it. The tracks are listed on that as being from '93. So that's were the guy must have got that from. >The guy who sells that disc also has bootlegs of b-sides >cd's and the Graduate cd. Funny thing about his boot copy of Graduate - I got ahold of one and it has 2 extra songs that the original CD doesn't. When I listened to the 2 extra, they are the exact same versions that I re-mastered a couple years ago and have been offering as part of the rare tracks collection. He didn't bother to answer me back when I wrote and told him that. Hope everyone has a safe and prosperous holiday! Scott
March 1983 25 Glasgow - Tiffanys This show (or at least part of it) was broadcast by Radio Clyde. I have what appears to be the first half of the broadcast: 1. Memories Fade 2. The Way You Are 3. Suffer the Children 4. Pale Shelter (cuts off half way through) Does anyone have this complete show? How much more was part of the broadcast? Re the above, i have a tape of a show broadcast on radio 1 (it's not an official release but merely taped off the radio). it is half an hour long and is introduced as 'radio in-concert featuring Tears For Fears'.the presenter does not announce when or where the show was recorded but it's obviously part of that tour. the tracks played are: memories fade the way you are suffer the children the prisoner ideas as opiates mad world change regards Chris MacAdams
The only thing I know about the Secrets video in question is that it was the second video produced for the song. Roland didn't like the first one, so he made the second one himself. This is the version with the various head shots. What became of the first cut we'll probably never know... -Donyo
i have just been listening to Roland on radio 2 here in England - a short interview on the Richard Allinson evening show Roland was aked about the success of TFF and specifically the Ivor Novello Songwriter Of The Year award in 1986. Roland stated that he went along not knowing that he had won & that the award had meant more to him than all the number one's & success in America. Roland was asked about the diversity of styles on the new lp and asked whether he buys many records. Roland enthused about the latest Bjork Lp and recommended that everybody buy it regardless of your age/taste in music. Low life was then played...... Dj referred to Tomcats Screaming Outside and stated that you have had that then to which Roland responded "yes, literally, that's what it's about". Roland objected to a statement that the lp was a collection of songs from the last few years......"oh, don't say that". The dj quoted Roland as saying that TFF was all about "getting rich, making a lot of money, getting famous, getting therapy"...... Roland stated that himself and Curt had been 'disciples' of Arthur Janov and Primal Scream theory. When asked about being back with synths, Roland stated that he had never stopped and loves experimenting in the studio and commented about "boys with toys". Whilst talking about the early TFF days (the hurting period) he reflected that it was a sign of the signs, being depressed and dressed all in black. he commented on how there is no angst today & that he scratches his head when he looks at kids nowadays who are so together and professional and in bands like A1. When asked about Curt he stated they were doing some writing together and were reunited through a love of Man United Football Club!!? Finally, when asked, Roland said he would love to tour. That's about it. A very rough transcript but hopefully you found it worthwhile. regards Chris
